Retreat Values

We create retreats that are spacious, supportive, and thoughtfully paced, allowing time for rest, reflection, and meaningful connection.

We design our retreats to be rooted in real places and communities, rather than insulated or over-curated experiences.

We prioritise participant safety and wellbeing, carrying out risk assessments for every retreat and taking reasonable steps to create a safe and supportive environment.

We work closely with local guides, teachers, and collaborators, paying fair wages and valuing local knowledge, experience, and lived culture.

Wherever possible, we choose independent, family-run and locally owned accommodation and services, and avoid large international hotel chains.

We travel consciously and responsibly, seeking to minimise our environmental impact and respect the natural landscapes we move through.

We respect local customs, traditions, laws, and cultural sensitivities, and ask participants to do the same.

We offer cultural experiences that reflect the diversity and richness of each place, rather than a single story or surface-level view.

We welcome diversity and inclusivity, encouraging openness, kindness, and mutual respect within our retreat groups.

We support participants practically and emotionally, while remaining within clear professional boundaries and signposting to qualified professionals when appropriate.

We believe retreat and travel are most meaningful when approached with humility, curiosity, and care.

Better Life Retreats offers space to slow down, reconnect, and gain perspective — while remaining grounded in real people, real places, and everyday life.
