A Cultural and Spiritual Journey through India

Golden Temple

15th March - 28th March 2025

Amritsar to Delhi

Maybe you have dreamed about going to India for some time, or maybe you've been before. Maybe you like the idea of experiencing India through a yogic/spiritual lens, travelling with a small group of like-minded people.

If that sounds like you, please read on!

In March 2025, I will be taking a small group to explore some of the highlights of Northern India.

Our trip will start with two nights in Amristar, where we will visit the spectacular Golden Temple (pictured above). The Golden Temple is the spiritual home of the Sikh community. We will also visit the peace gardens to learn more about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, and in the late afternoon we will go to the Wagah border to watch the famous border closing ceremony at the Pakistani border.

Our next stop is four nights staying in Dharmshala, high in the foothills of the Himalayas, this is the home of the Tibetan Government in exile. Staying at a yoga centre which has the most fantastic views of the mountains, we will visit the Dalai Lama's temple, the Tibet Musuem as well some historic temples and sites in the area. There will be opportunities for short walks/trekking, yoga, sound healing and maybe a dip at the local waterfall.

On route to Rishikesh, we will spend two nights in Chandigarh, India's first planned city, which was planned by the French architect Le Corbusier. It's known as one of the best experiments in modern architecture in India and we will break up our journey here with a half day exploring some of the key sites including the UNESCO world heritage Capitol Complex.

Our final destination is Rishikesh (pictured below), the world capital of yoga and a center of pilgrimage for Hindus. With five nights here we will enjoy simple ashram life, enjoying the yoga, kirtan, Indian Classical Music and fire pujas on offer. We will meditate on the banks of the Ganges; we may even go for a swim! We will explore the surrounding region with a visit to a famous meditation cave where Jesus stayed and a beautiful goddess temple high up in the mountains.

Beccy will be offering us guidance in Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga) as we travel throughout the region with two included workshops. Theresa will be offering yoga and meditation classes throughout the two weeks and there will be opportunity to take class with local teachers.

We will be staying in 3-star hotels and simple ashrams/yoga centers. The accommodation is simple, but you will have your own room and bathroom throughout. Eight breakfasts are also included in the price.

Travelling by private minibus from Amristar to Rishikesh, we will be accompanied by a very experienced Indian guide. When we get to Rishikesh we will use local taxis and tuk tuks to get around!

You will be accompanied throughout this journey by Theresa and Beccy, who between them have been to India 12 times, you will find them both passionate about the country. They will do everything in their power to make your stay enjoyable, safe, fun and memorable!
